How to Get Rid of Garlic Smell on Hands: Fresh and Fragrant Tips

Onion is a delicious, nutritious, and versatile food that can be prepared in many different ways to complement various dishes. However, foods like onions and garlic contain sulfur, which gives off a strong odor. The sulfur compounds in onions are released when you cut, bite, or crush them. And that’s why your hands always smell unpleasantly of onions after preparing a dish with this ingredient.

The onion smell often lingers on your hands for a long time and can be difficult to get rid of no matter how much soap you use. However, luckily there is a way to eliminate this unpleasant, stubborn odor from your hands. You may have heard of the method of rubbing your hands with a stainless steel spoon under running water, which helps remove the onion smell from your hands. But what if you don’t have this type of spoon?

It’s simple! Just use salt and liquid soap. To remove the lingering smell of onions from your hands, mix 1 tablespoon of liquid soap with 1 tablespoon of salt in a small bowl. You can use any liquid soap, such as dish soap, laundry detergent, hand soap, shower gel, or shampoo. You can also use any type of salt.

After mixing the mixture in the bowl, apply it to the palm of your hand. Then, rub your hands together with this mixture, from the palm, fingers, between the fingers, the back of the hand, under the fingernails. After thorough rubbing, rinse your hands under cold water to wash off the soap, salt, and onion smell from your hands. For the most effective cleaning, you can use a brush to scrub your hands more with the mixture.
